Our Office

Attic Star in the South Bay & East Bay

Our Mountain View office on El Camino Real is the base for crews covering Santa Clara County and the East Bay. On a typical day the same team might be clearing a rodent-damaged attic in Sunnyvale, replacing insulation in a Willow Glen bungalow, and sealing a crawl space in Pleasanton.

Inland summers drive a lot of the work here. When it's well over 90 degrees outside, an attic in San Jose, Fremont or Walnut Creek can get much hotter than that, and most homes in the area run their ducts through it. Thin or settled insulation and leaky ducts show up as upstairs rooms that never cool down and summer bills that keep climbing.

The South Bay and East Bay also have a lot of post-war and 1960s to 1980s tract housing, built when attic insulation levels were far lower than what today's energy code expects. Topping up or replacing that insulation, sealing the attic floor and fixing the ductwork are some of the most common projects this office handles, along with rodent proofing for homes that back onto creeks, orchards and open space.

Santa Clara County

Former orchard land across Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Santa Clara and San Jose became ranch-home tracts in the 1950s and 60s, including Eichler neighborhoods in Sunnyvale, Cupertino and San Jose. Willow Glen, the Rose Garden and downtown Los Gatos add older bungalows and Victorians with raised floors and crawl spaces.

Southern Alameda County & the Tri-Valley

Fremont, Hayward and San Leandro are mostly mid-century single-story homes, while Pleasanton, Dublin and Livermore have more homes from the 1970s on. Summer heat in the Tri-Valley makes attic insulation and duct condition a big factor in comfort and cooling costs.

Central Contra Costa & the San Ramon Valley

Walnut Creek, Concord and the San Ramon Valley run hot in summer, and homes that back onto open space, creeks and oak hillsides see steady rodent pressure. Older homes in Lafayette, Orinda and Martinez often sit on raised foundations with crawl spaces.

Common Questions

FAQ

Which Attic Star office serves the East Bay? +

Our Mountain View office covers Santa Clara County and most of the East Bay, including Fremont, Hayward, the Tri-Valley, Walnut Creek and Concord. Oakland, Berkeley and the communities just north of them are covered by our North Bay team. The same number, (800) 444-8180, reaches every office.

My upstairs rooms are hot all summer. Is that an attic problem? +

Often, yes. In hot inland areas the attic heats up well past the outdoor temperature, and thin insulation or leaky ducts running through it pass that heat into the rooms below. An inspection will show whether insulation, air sealing, ductwork or the cooling equipment itself is the main cause.

Do you serve Gilroy, Morgan Hill and Livermore? +

Yes. We cover all of Santa Clara County and the Tri-Valley, and the inspection is free wherever you are in our service area.
