Our Office

Attic Star in the Mid-Peninsula

Our Redwood City office sits on Middlefield Road, a short drive from Menlo Park, Atherton, San Carlos and Palo Alto. Crews leave from here every morning for jobs across the Mid-Peninsula and the rest of San Mateo County, from the bayside flats in Foster City and Redwood Shores to the hills above Belmont and Woodside.

Housing on the Mid-Peninsula covers almost every era. There are 1920s and 1930s homes in Palo Alto, Burlingame and San Mateo Park, post-war ranch tracts in San Carlos and Belmont, Eichler neighborhoods in Palo Alto and San Mateo, and large estate homes in Atherton and Hillsborough. Each one puts its insulation, ducts and crawl space in a different place, so the inspection always starts with how your particular house is built.

The office handles the full range of Attic Star services. The most common calls here are rodents in the attic (roof rats move easily through the oaks, ivy and fruit trees that fill Peninsula yards), old insulation that has settled or been contaminated, and crawl spaces under older raised-floor homes that have collected moisture and debris.

Mid-Peninsula

Older homes near downtown Redwood City, Menlo Park and Palo Alto often have shallow attics and raised floors over crawl spaces, while the hillside neighborhoods west of El Camino have more trees, more roof rats and steeper, harder-to-reach crawl spaces.

  • Emerald Hills
  • North Fair Oaks
  • San Carlos · White Oaks, Devonshire
  • Belmont · Carlmont, Sterling Downs
  • Menlo Park · Allied Arts, the Willows, Linfield Oaks, Sharon Heights, Belle Haven
  • Atherton · Lindenwood, West Atherton
  • Woodside
  • Portola Valley · Ladera
  • Palo Alto · Old Palo Alto, Professorville, Crescent Park, Midtown, Barron Park, Greenmeadow
  • East Palo Alto
  • Stanford

San Mateo & North Peninsula

Much of this area was built out between the 1920s and 1960s. Burlingame and San Mateo Park have older two-story homes with real attics, while the post-war neighborhoods in San Bruno, Millbrae and Daly City are mostly single-story homes where the attic and the subfloor are the only places to add insulation.

  • San Mateo · Baywood, San Mateo Park, Aragon, Hillsdale, Shoreview, Beresford
  • Foster City
  • Hillsborough
  • Burlingame · Easton Addition, Ray Park, Burlingame Hills
  • Millbrae
  • San Bruno
  • South San Francisco
  • Daly City · Westlake, Serramonte
  • Brisbane
  • Pacifica · Linda Mar, Sharp Park

Coastside

Coastal fog keeps homes along the San Mateo coast damp for much of the year, so vapor barriers, crawl space moisture and insulation that has absorbed water are frequent issues here.

Common Questions

FAQ

Which Attic Star office serves San Mateo County? +

Our Redwood City office at 2847 Middlefield Rd covers the Mid-Peninsula and the rest of San Mateo County, including the North Peninsula and the coast. The same number, (800) 444-8180, reaches every office.

Do you work on Eichler homes in Palo Alto and San Mateo? +

Yes. Eichlers have flat or low-slope roofs and no conventional attic, so the usual attic insulation options don't apply. We'll look at what can practically be done for your home during the free inspection and tell you plainly if a service isn't a good fit.

Is there a charge to inspect a home in Hillsborough, Woodside or Half Moon Bay? +

No. Inspections are free throughout the area we serve, including the hills and the coast.
